Boston Flood Barrier
A hydraulic engineering structure for Boston Town and the Lincolnshire hinterland.
The Project
After a major flood struck the east coast of England in 2013, 800 households in Boston were inundated. The government then launched a program to protect the coastline. One of these projects is the Boston Flood Barrier.
The Challenge
Following the bankruptcy of one of Hollandia’s existing suppliers, Peco Douwes was contacted. To prevent the project from coming to a standstill, Peco Douwes purchased the fastening anchors from the existing supplier. Thanks to their swift response, these anchors were rolled and received the proper surface treatment. Thanks to Peco Douwes’ proactive approach, the fasteners arrived at Hollandia on time.
Result
Storm surge barriers are movable barriers located in river estuaries, waterways, and inlets. They close during periods of extremely high water. Archey supplied the mounting anchors for these barriers, with diameters of M36, M72, and M76 and lengths of up to 8 meters, including nuts and washers.
