Between 2013 and 2015, the bridge underwent major work on behalf of the Department of Public Works. This renovation focused on strengthening the bridge and renewing the road surface, which was essential for improving traffic flow and meeting modern standards.

During the renovation, the Galecopper Bridge was jacked up, increasing its clearance by 70 cm. This modification ensures that the bridge meets the new standard for Rhine navigation height, which is important for the passage of ships. The renewed road surface and reinforced structure contribute to a longer life of the bridge, allowing it to continue to function as an efficient artery for both automobile and shipping traffic for the next 30 years.
