Varex Imaging Nederland B.V. ran into limited space and variety of difference in tightening torques and drives when assembling new coolers. Beforehand, they wanted to clarify their production set-up. They used a 3D-CAD model to make sure that all tools would be applicable in the final assembly process.

Together with the Production Engineers at Varex Imaging Nederland B.V., we looked at all the requirements in terms of tightening torques and tolerances and then devised a composition of different tools. Because assembly takes place in a sequence and all connections have a different setting, each type of screw connection is given a tool with a power bit or power cap. For recognition, each tool was labeled with the set tightening torque clearly displayed.

By taking a good inventory in advance, Varex achieved a smooth assembly process, thus saving time but also eliminating errors during the process and better control possibilities. Partly because of this, the production process can be scaled up quickly. Moreover, with the creation of clear work instructions, multiple employees can perform the work. This greatly benefits flexibility and efficiency.
