Customer had received a complaint from his client, due to repeated power outages which was caused by the connectors coming loose from the power cables. Resulting power failure of lighting and LED fixtures. These conditions were in a data center, where cabling and power supply must be a critical aspect and security must be guaranteed. The screws were tightened in a simple way with a simple cordless screwdriver with one fixed range, which also regularly caused the head of the screw to break off.

They came to us through our website and a visit appointment was scheduled on short notice. On site, we looked at the product (cable and connector), the screw and the screwing method and started testing with various brands of screwdrivers. The electrical flat cable on which the connector is to be screwed has insulation that is relatively soft. Due to the high rpm that was used, grouting/setting did not take place sufficiently, resulting in the screws becoming loose over time. Reducing the speed should bring the solution.

Our programmable Bosch Exact machines were set to 0.8 Nm; 5 revolutions of 1800 degrees at 640 r.p.m. and the last 2 revolutions of 720 degrees at 134 r.p.m. This created a better relaxation of the soft joint and created a consistently secure joint. An additional advantage was also that the battery has 2x more power, which has a positive effect on tolerances.
